How it works

How HyreMover works

HyreMover is free. You read the guides and use the tools. When you want help, you describe your move in a short form. A person reads it and replies. Where we can, we connect you with moving companies on your route, and no company gets your details until you agree.

Where we are today. Matching with moving companies is still being built. This is not an instant-quote marketplace, and we would rather say so than suggest a network we do not have.

Tell us the move and the zip codes. We will answer your question and let you know when we can introduce moving companies on your route.

What are the six steps?

You tell us the move, both zip codes and your timing. We check what we can verify for your route, reply to you first, and you decide what happens next.

  1. Tell us about the move. Local or long-distance, roughly how much there is, whether you want packing, and whether there is a storage gap. Not sure yet? Say so. "Just researching" is a real answer on the form.
  2. Give us both zip codes. Where a move starts and ends decides its rules. Cross a state line and it is federally regulated. Stay inside one state and that state's rules apply, which range from a full licensing system to almost nothing.
  3. Tell us your timing. Timing is one of the biggest levers on price in this trade. Month-end, the first of the month and the summer peak are the tight windows, and flexibility is worth real money.
  4. We look at your route. We check what we can verify for your origin, destination and type of move. For interstate moves that includes federal registration, which is public. For moves inside one state it depends on what your state licenses.
  5. We reply to you first. We answer your question and tell you what we can offer for your route. Nothing goes to a moving company before you agree.
  6. You decide what happens next. Get estimates, keep planning, or do nothing. There is no obligation, and the guides and tools never ask for your details.

What does HyreMover do?

  • Publishes free help. Moving guides and 9 free tools. Nothing is gated.
  • Explains the rules. The federal and state rules that protect you, and where they stop. Start with how moving estimates work.
  • Reads your inquiry. A person reads the details people send when they want to be connected.
  • Plans to introduce you. We intend to connect people with companies serving their route, and we say where our information is incomplete.

What does HyreMover not do?

  • No moving. We do not move, pack, store or handle belongings. We are not a carrier.
  • No brokering. We are not a broker and we do not arrange carriage.
  • No guarantees or cover. We do not supervise, warrant, guarantee or insure any move, and we do not sell valuation coverage.
  • No prices, rankings or data sales. We cannot price your move, we do not rank companies or publish reviews, and we do not sell your details.

How might HyreMover be paid?

We expect moving companies to pay us for introducing people to them. You are never charged anything. The page for moving companies covers the other side, and our lead quality standard lists what we check about an inquiry before it goes anywhere.

The risk in that model is that money starts to shape the advice. Our editorial policy keeps them apart. A business relationship does not change what we say about estimate types, valuation, brokers or how to judge a company.

It is also why the site says things that do not help sell a move. Released value pays by weight, not by what an item was worth. The cheapest quote is often the one that assumed the least. And hiring labor only is sometimes the right answer.

What happens to my information?

  • We use it to answer you. And to find companies that fit your move. That is the only reason we collect it.
  • No company gets it without your OK. Nothing is passed on until you agree, and we do not sell lists.
  • Your phone number is optional. Agreeing to calls cannot be a condition of using the service, so the form sends without it.
  • You can have it deleted. Just ask. The privacy policy explains what we store and for how long.

Ready to tell us about your move?

Describe the move and both zip codes. It is free, and no company gets your details until you agree. How we vet moving companies explains what we check first.

Questions people ask

Does HyreMover cost anything?
No, at any stage. The guides and all 9 tools are free, with no email needed. Sending the inquiry form is free and commits you to nothing: not a company, not a date, not a valuation option.
Will my details be sold?
No. Introducing you to a company you asked to meet is not selling a list, and we do not sell lists. The privacy policy explains what we store, for how long, and how to have it deleted.
How is HyreMover paid?
We expect moving companies to pay us for introducing people to them. You are never charged. Our editorial policy keeps that money away from the advice, which is why you will find no ranking of moving companies on this site.
Can you give me a price for my move?
No. We have not seen your belongings, your stairs or your street, and a number made without those is the kind the federal regulator warns about. We can explain what drives your price and what a complete estimate contains.
Are you a moving company or a broker?
Neither. We do not move, pack, store or handle anything, and we do not arrange carriage the way a household goods broker does. HyreMover is an independent information site building a way to connect people with moving companies.
